Jetstar Asia launches daily flights to Macau
Promotional fares to start from $28 per way

From 2 February 2008, Jetstar Asia will commence daily flights to the exciting city of Macau! To celebrate this occasion, the airline is offering promotional fares to Macau from $28 per way (Sale from 14-18 November, travel period from 2 February to 30 June 2008).

Ms Chong Phit Lian, Jetstar Asia/Valuair's Chief Executive Officer said: "Jetstar Asia's launch of daily flights to Macau serves as a direct air link catering to the growing number of visitors from Singapore to Macau. Our expansion into new destinations and the increasing of capacity to existing destinations indicates a clear sign of growth."

Located 60km from Hong Kong and 145km from Guangzhou, Macau is one of the two special administrative regions (SARs) of People's Republic of China, the other being Hong Kong. With 442 years of Portuguese rule, Macau is the oldest European colony in the history of East Asia. Macau has undergone remarkable changes in recent years. Testament of Macau's booming economy lies in its tourism numbers which have grown from 9.1 million visitors in 2000 to almost 22 million last year. Latest developments include the Wynn Macau, MGM Grand Macau and the upcoming Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16.

This year, the first phase of Macau's Cotai Strip opened with The Venetian Macau, a mega integrated shopping, entertainment and conventions complex. Other premier casinos and hotels, slated to open in the next two years, include the Far East Consortium Complex, Four Seasons, Galaxy Cotai Mega Resort, City of Dreams, The Mandarin Oriental and Grand Hyatt. When completed, the Cotai Strip will see a total of 19,000 guest rooms in its seven resort hotels.

Macau is also famous for her Historic Centre inscribed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 2005. This includes some twenty-five historic monuments and eight public squares, such as the Ruins of Saint Paul's Cathedral, A-Ma Temple and Mount Fortress.

Ms Chong added: "Jetstar Asia is committed to growing its Pan Asia Network with Changi Airport Terminal One's excellent facilities as our hub. As we move into 2008, there will be more exciting developments in this area, including our interests and readiness to operate to Kuala Lumpur and other Malaysian cities once the rights are available. Our airline has won, for the second year running, Best Asian Low-Cost Carrier at this year's TTG Travel Awards. Terminal One check-in, free online seat selection, pre-assigned seating, 20 kg baggage allowance, leather seats and well trained cabin crew are the airline's unique selling points preferred by our passengers. Check out www.jetstar.com for our other exciting offers!"

Eng. Joao Manuel Costa Antunes, Director of the Macau Government Tourist Office said: "The new Jetstar route will further attract visitors from Singapore to Macau, diversify Macau's source market portfolio and strengthen connectivity between Singapore and Macau. This will result in more regional business and tourism development. We extend our open hand of friendship to visitors from Singapore and we are confident that our guests will experience our warm hospitality."

Jetstar named CAPA Low Cost Carrier of the Year

The Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA) has awarded Jetstar the "CAPA Low Cost Airline of the Year" in the Asia Pacific region, the second time the value based carrier has won the prestigious annual award in its short operational history.

Jetstar Chief Executive Officer Alan Joyce was in Singapore to accept the award at CAPA's Gala Awards Dinner and to participate in the Centre's annual conference featuring the Asia Pacific region's pre-eminent aviation leaders.

Australia's leading low fares airline in July this year secured the reputable SkyTrax Awards for "Best LCC in the World", "Best LCC in the Asia Pacific Region" and "Best Cabin Crew - Australia and New Zealand". Jetstar also achieved Airline Business. Magazine's award for Operational Excellence.

"Jetstar's competitiveness across the Asia Pacific region has long been recognized, but to again win this award in such an environment is a wonderful result for our talented and dynamic team," Mr Joyce said.

"2007 has been a record year for Jetstar both financially and operationally. This prestigious award caps off a year of significant success as we've become one of two future growth brands in the Qantas Group.

"Jetstar is now developing into a pan Asian brand which forms a major part of our next phase of sustainable growth. Our challenge is to now build on this momentum and to continually improve."

Jetstar achieved a record AUD $115 million Profit Before Tax (PBT) result for the 2007 financial year (ex international start-up costs) with its Australian domestic operations achieving four-fold profit growth.

The successful on-time launch in November 2006 of its value based long haul international operations from Australia to key Asian and Asia Pacific ports also contributed a small PBT result, with other operational highlights including:

-  Carriage of 7.6 million passengers (rising 32 per cent) for the 2007FY also supported by rising seat factors and higher yields;

-  Industry leading cost base in the Australian market supporting Jetstar's low fares leadership;

-  Successful introduction of new customer initiatives including a two-class cabin service for long haul international flying (with StarClass );

-  Positive launch into the critical inbound tourism market of Japan from March 2007; and

-  Continued evolution of Jetstar.com into a one-stop travel website with strong traffic growth.

Mr Joyce said the successful start-up of its new value based long haul international operations, without hindering the continued strong performance of existing Australian domestic and trans Tasman services, was a clear catalyst for the CAPA award.

CAPA Executive Chairman Peter Harbison said: "Jetstar is forging a path other LCCs around the world are watching and following. Its breakthrough long haul services have positioned not only Jetstar, but the wider Qantas Group, to capitalise on the Australian outbound travel boom, while its low cost focus gives the Group a strong backbone to address rising short-haul competition."

Separately, Ms Chong also responded to news regarding the possibility of an additional low fare airline commencing flights between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

"From the beginning of our operations, we have expressed our interest to the Singapore and Malaysian authorities to operate into Malaysian cities including Kuala Lumpur. This gives consumers the choice of low fare flights, stimulates demand for travel and is in the interest of both countries to enjoy a closer relationship. Our product meets the needs of many as we operate out of Changi Airport Terminal One, providing excellent connectivity to all destinations other than point to point travel. For this reason, Jetstar Asia is well poised to meet the needs of both short and long haul travelers."

Jetstar Asia: One of the Best On Time Performance Records among Low Cost Carriers
Additional service to Yangon; New destinations in China and Vietnam eyed for 08

Jetstar Asia has recorded one of the best on-time performances (OTP) system-wide compared to its competitors. Despite additional security measures, an increase of flights and route expansion, the airline's network punctuality rate achieved an average of 90 per cent for the past year. From February to August 07, the on-time performance system wide was 92 per cent.

OTP is defined as aircraft leaving the designated gates no more than 15 minutes beyond the scheduled departure time, given the considerations of congestion at the tarmac and regulatory exit points. To ensure consistency, Jetstar Asia's punctuality targets are measured on an on-going basis comparing year on year performance.

In March 07, the airline's seven carriers were on-time 95 per cent of the time, a 4 per cent improvement from last March; in July this year, the punctuality rate was 94 per cent, a 4 per cent increase from July 06. Latest figures in August 07 show out of 210 departures, 195 leaving the gate within 15 minutes, 163 on-time and an overall of 93 per cent in network punctuality.

This is good news for Jetstar passengers, be they business or vacationing, as time is their most precious commodity. "Jetstar is proud of our consistent on-time arrival track record. This reflects the high competency and maintenance quality of our aircraft, different parts of ground operations working seamlessly and good operational capabilities. Our passengers get to their destinations on-time without compromising safety or service levels," said Ms Chong Phit Lian, Jetstar Asia and Valuair's Chief Executive Officer.

In other Jetstar Asia news: A fourth service to Yangon will commence on September 28.

The airline is looking to launch new destinations in Vietnam and China to accommodate the growing needs of travelers. There are also plans to increase the number of flights in certain existing ports; all likely to take place during the first quarter of 2008.
